パンツのことをパンツって呼ぶのは日本だけで海外でパンツのことをパンツって呼んでもパンツのことだと伝わらないのは知ってるけど、なんでパンツをパンティって言わずにパンツと呼ぶみたいな紛らわしい和製英語が生まれたのか気になりパンツ

軽く調べてみた感じだと、pantsが中の下着のことを指すのはどうやらイギリス英語らしい（外側に履くのはtrousers）。

パンティーの色教えてっていうのはガチ
我々は　そこらへんのグレーゾーンを巧みに使い分けてる（両方セクハラ）

日本語の難しいところはパンツと言ってズボンの意味になる時もあるということ

確かに日本語で使うときって、文脈でどちらを指すかを察する能力が要求されるという。

いろんな国から取り入れまくった和製英語だけど、特にファッション用語はアメリカ英語、イギリス英語、フランス語etcでもう何が何やら・・・

なんで？の言い方が西日本イントネーションぽくて好き

「パンツ」を「ころね」のイントネーションで言うと下着、「おかゆ」のイントネーションで言うとズボンになります

In British English, “pants” refers to what you wear on the inside, and “trousers” refers to what you wear on the outside.

But in American English, “underwear” refers to what you wear on the inside, and “pants” refers to what you wear on the outside. “Panty” is also used to refer to what you wear on the inside but it refers to a specific kind of underwear that women and girls wear. Like shimapan.

I live in Canada and we use the American version because we are right next to the USA. Most differences in British and American English are small and it’s easy to understand each other, but sometimes we have examples like this which can cause confusion.

Bonus: My older brother moved to England and married a woman from there, and now every time I talk to him he sounds more and more like an english person. They had a daughter together last year.

25年ぐらい前からズボンの事パンツって言い始めたはず
なんかいきなり急に、パラレルワールドか？と思うほど自然に。
